5 Books Makes a Reading List
With summer fast approaching—and for many of you already here—I have been thinking about some of the reads that will be on the top of my list to get me into a summer mood.

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green
I read Hank Green’s debut novel An Absolutely Remarkable Thing as soon as I got it out of the box in September of 2018. Now, 2 years later, his much-anticipated sequel is coming out. Also, there’s nothing like a good bout of Bildungsroman to get you into a summer mood.
A Book of Common Prayer by Joan Didion
While I haven’t addressed Joan Didion too much on the main channel lately, I have still been making my way through her collective works, one book at a time. Currently, I’m reading Woher ich kam, which is the German version of Where I Came From.
If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha
Featuring a STUNNING cover to match a stunning concept, If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha focuses on “[South Korea’s] obsession with beauty” (see link). As someone who is half-South Korean myself, I am more than interested in Cha’s insights into the country’s sometimes toxic beauty culture.
Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The middle of my Junior year of High School brought on a pretty serious Fitzgerald obsession, though I must say after all of my reading and researching about the Fitzgeralds was over and done with, my favorite novel between the two had to be Save Me The Walz by Zelda Fitzgerald, a companion novel of sorts to this novel. Interesting to me in the adventure of reading this book is how the two line up and communicate with each other, even through the difficulties and separations in one of history’s most dynamic pairs.
The Outsider by Stephen King
Stephen King’s new novel is certainly another book that has been sitting on my #TrueShelf for a couple of months now, and I have decided that the summer is the perfect time to finally get through it.
