Our Music: Leo Discenza

Leo Discenza is a composer and soprano from Arlington, Virginia. They are a third-year undergraduate in the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, where they study composition with Jay Alan Yim. With strong roots in choral music, Leo gravitates most toward vocal music, but enjoys writing for all instruments. Upcoming performances include pieces for Northwestern’s Contemporary Music Ensemble, a quartet from Taimur Sullivan’s saxophone studio, and two student recitals. Leo enjoys working collaboratively with four other composers in Kolaj, their electro-acoustic ensemble. Outside of composition, Leo is an active singer at Northwestern in the Renaissance Singers, where they are also treasurer and co-music director. They study vocal performance with Elissa Edwards.
